Happy Holidays 2015! From Gina and Janice

There's a saying going around about what to give children for the holidays this year:

Something they WANT, something they NEED, something to WEAR, and something to READ.

We think these are great ideas, not least the part about something to read - and not just kids! Perhaps one of the books we've written will be perfect for someone on your list:

And perhaps for yourself, among the holiday mayhem: a cup of tea, fifteen minutes, and our short story Christmas in Bruges (by Meadow Taylor). One reader had this to say about it: "How lovely to read a romantic story that touches on a serious issue [PTSD] in a gentle way. The healing power of love is something we can all believe in during the holiday season."

We think something else needs to be added: something to DONATE. Whether on Giving Tuesday (December 1, 2015) or at any other time, please consider donating to a charity such as the New York Times-profiled organization called Cure Blindness: Himalayan Cataract Project, which can remove someone’s blindness-inducing cataracts in ten minutes for as little as $25, which is pretty much a miracle when you think about it.

As Charles Dickens wrote in A Christmas Carol: “I have always thought of Christmastime, when it has come round...as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow-passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys.”

However you celebrate this season, we wish you peace, joy, love - and good books!

Cheers!
Gina & Janice
